近代早期博物学史的编史学综述
Historiography of Early Modern Natural History:An Overview

摘要(Abstract):

近代早期博物学与科学革命的关系是近代早期博物学编史学必须处理的核心问题。20世纪中叶前后,很多传统科学史研究者并不倾向于强调近代早期博物学内部的断裂和革命,在这样的叙事中,近代早期博物学和科学革命的关系多是外在或无关的。福柯则率先主张近代早期博物学中存在一次与数理科学革命有内在关联的认识型转换。八十年代以来,英美科学史界不同程度地接受了福柯的看法,根据不同的主题对近代早期博物学内部的变革进行了分析,同时也研究了博物学和数理科学在近代早期科学文化上的统一性。
The position of early modern natural history in the Scientific Revolution constitutes the core question that guides any historiographical project of early modern natural history.Around the mid-20 th century,historians of science working with traditional approaches made several illuminating yet aborted attemps to elaborate the internal revolution in early modern natural history.In such narratives,early modern natural history lies outside of the mainstream of the Scientific Revolution,remaining essentially irrelevant to it.Michel Foucault provided a seminal approach to understand the history of early modern natural history,integrating it with the history of the revolution in mathematical physical sciences in his analysis of episteme shifts.Since 1980s,Foucault's view has more or less been shared by historians of science.The discontinuity and the revolution in natural history have been recognized and studied in its diverse aspects,and the synchronous development of natural history and mathematical physical sciences has been investigated.
